Technical Design Contributions

As a Technical Designer, I bridge the gap between game design, level design, and programming, ensuring gameplay features and systems are robust, intuitive, and effectively integrated into the game. I contribute to feature validation and support the Game Modes team by anticipating technical needs, establishing clear implementation guidelines, and defining consistent level design rules. I also develop, maintain, and optimize in-game tools and debugging utilities.

  • Develop and maintain in-game tools and debug tools for designers.
  •  In parallel with the features and systems development, build a solid rational level design checklist and communicate technical requirements to the level design team to ensure the best in-game experience.
  • Act as a bridge between the design team and the engineering team to ensure the tools and engine developments support the game design needs.
  • Implement data validation strategies (reports, automated testing, etc.)
  • Optimization for systems and features.
  • Clean up outdated data and error logs
  • Unreal Engine 5

Technical Overview

  • Designer Tools Development – Create and maintain tools that streamline level designers’ workflows and reduce repetitive manual tasks.
  • Technical Design & Prototyping – Prototype gameplay systems and workflows to quickly validate ideas and technical approaches before production.
  • Cross-Discipline Collaboration – Act as a bridge between design and engineering, translating design needs into practical technical solutions.
  • Gameplay & Engine Scripting – Develop gameplay features and editor workflows using C++, Blueprint, Python, and Rust.
  • Custom Tooling – Build lightweight standalone tools and utilities using Rust and egui to support development workflows outside the game engine.
  • Data Validation & Automated Testing – Implement validation tools, reports, and automated tests to identify invalid, missing, or inconsistent game data.
  • Level Design Support – Define technical guidelines and validation criteria to help level designers use gameplay systems consistently and effectively.
  • Systems Optimization – Profile and optimize tools, systems, and workflows to improve performance and iteration speed.
  • Debugging & Diagnostics – Develop debug utilities and investigate technical issues to help teams identify and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Data & Pipeline Maintenance – Clean up outdated data, resolve recurring errors, and improve the reliability of development pipelines.
  • Rapid Technical Iteration – Test multiple technical approaches through small-scale prototypes before committing to production solutions.
